What is a postpartum doula?
A postpartum doula is non-medical caregiver that nurtures new mothers after birth while supporting their recovery and journey into motherhood.
What areas do you serve?
While I service the whole Perth metro I can work with you if you live our of this area. I offer distant doula consults and packages
When should I book a postpartum doula?
As soon as you can, though it’s also okay if you think last minute you would like to take on a doula. This gives us time to have initial consults and really plan how you and your family want the postpartum period to be experienced.
Are you certified?
In Australia, a postpartum doula is not recognised as a certified profession. However, I trained through Newborn Mothers with Julia Jones.
Is there anything you don’t do?
Yes! As a postpartum doula I do not provide medical services, treatments, make decisions for you or diagnose mother and baby.
How long should I hire a doula for?
It’s entirely up to you! I can work with you for two weeks or up to ten weeks. After our time together if you think you need more, I can assist you with finding professionals to help you in the areas you need.
Can you help after a C-section?
Of course! While you focus one your recovery I will help you out every step of the way. Both with your yourself, your newborn and your home.
Will this affect my partners role?
As a family doula I want to support both of you in this transition time, not to take away anything. I’ll help your parter where they require me, whether it’s an extra set of hands or needing a better understanding of anything.
How do you do your postpartum plans?
I will put your postpartum plan together before you give birth. We will meet up initially to find out what it is you' and your family are wanting from my services. I will then go away and work on your plan, sending it to you when it’s completed.
